Turning the Tides Against Homelessness is more than just a beach walk. It’s a movement of compassion, awareness, and community action.

As a high school senior at Academic Magnet and a returning member of the Students for Change program with One80 Place, I am committed to making a real difference for those experiencing homelessness in Charleston. I organized this walk last year, and seeing our community come together to support One80 Place showed me the power of small steps adding up to big change.

Our mission is to raise both funds and awareness for One80 Place, Charleston’s homeless shelter, while fostering empathy and understanding across our community. Homelessness is not an issue that can be solved overnight, but by walking side by side, we are taking steps toward dignity, hope, and opportunity for all.

Together, we can turn the tides and create a future where everyone has a safe place to call home.
